Laura’s role: I’m responsible for overseeing the Foundation’s scholarship program, made up of the Austin Futures Fund and a number of individual donor-advised scholarships. I will also guide the scholarship program through ongoing changes and updates focused on maximizing its impact, ensuring alignment with the Foundation’s current strategic goals and overall strategy.
What brought Laura to the Foundation: I’m really excited at the opportunity to use my skills and strengths to further develop the Scholarship Program, so that we can continue to support Central Texas students through enabling them to access the education and skills they need to obtain family-sustaining employment, thereby contributing to ACF’s Economic Mobility Strategy.
What Laura did before: My career has always been focused on community engagement and the nonprofit sector. Most recently, I served as the Development Director at VELA, an Austin-born nonprofit working to empower families of children with disabilities.
I hold both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Texas State University.
Laura’s favorite things to do in Central Texas: I love trying new restaurants and recipes with my husband, going on walks with our dog and reading. I would eat ice cream at any time of the day and would never say no to coffee!
