Since 2008, Austin Community Foundation has helped distribute nearly $9.9 million in scholarship awards to 5,209 aspiring and current students. We partner with community leaders, philanthropists and educators to support the educational goals of students as well as the charitable wishes of our donors.
“In July 2023, my family faced significant hardships when my mom lost her job. The challenges compounded in June 2024 when my dad also lost his job. This scholarship has not only lightened the financial burden but also rekindled my hopes and aspirations for my education. With the aid of this scholarship, I am now able to attend Texas State University without the overwhelming worry of financial constraints. “Without [this scholarship] I wouldn’t be able to attend UNT and study anthropology… I hope to receive my masters or PhD in medical anthropology and help bridge the gap of health and cultural disparities in communities of color and communities of lower socioeconomic status. …I now have a stepping stone to give back to my community as well as ending generational curses prevalent in my family. I will be the first person in my family to be a traditional college student and the first with plans to pursue a PhD.”
