2023 Grant Partners

ACF is pleased to support The Black Fund on its path to becoming an independent nonprofit organization. In doing so, The Black Fund has transitioned to a fiscally sponsored project of ACF as it awaits its 501(c)(3) designation. Now called The Black Fund of Central Texas, this move is a significant milestone and represents ACF’s continued partnership with the Black community. Learn More >


In 2023,
The Black Fund awarded $500,000 in general operating support to 25 Black-led organizations working to uplift the Black community in Central Texas. Below is a list of the grant partners, beginning with the top finalists in each of the five impact areas: Arts, Culture & Preservation, Education, Health & Wellness, Power Building, Organizing & Advocacy, and Wealth Building.

Arts, Culture & Preservation

Investing in the creative and cultural contributions of Black artists of all kinds as a means of expressing, celebrating, preserving, and advancing the legacy of Black people.

Origin Studio House

$40,000 / Two-year grant

Origin Studio House is a place for creators and community, driven by the spirit of hospitality, shared connections and nourishment. Located in historic East Austin, Origin has a robust programmatic arm that convenes artists of all industries—including visual art, performance art and the culinary arts.

Education

Investing in educational initiatives and spaces that support successful outcomes for Black people.

Building Promise USA

$40,000 / Two-year grant

Building Promise USA works to dismantle the cycle of incarceration, unemployment and homelessness among people with justice involvement and behavioral health challenges by providing transitional and support services to them, their families and their communities.

Investing in initiatives and organizations that advance the mental, physical, and spiritual health and wellness of Black Central Texans.

Delivering Unto You

$40,000 / Two-year grant

Delivering Unto You offers a safe, empowering pregnancy and birth environment by providing midwifery care, education, and support for Black families and other families of color in Travis County and surrounding areas.

Power Building, Organizing & Advocacy

Investing in urgent, emergent, and ongoing initiatives and organizations that harness the collective power of Black people as a means of challenging, redesigning, or uprooting systems to continually move us towards an equitable society.

Round Rock Black Parents Association

$40,000 / Two-year grant

The Round Rock Black Parents Association is a community engagement and empowerment network that unifies, mobilizes and uplifts Black parents, students, educators, and stakeholders.

Investing in initiatives and organizations that close the racial wealth gap for Black Central Texans by providing an ecosystem of support resulting in increased individual and shared growth and prosperity.

Austin Legal Access

$40,000 / Two-year grant

Austin Legal Access provides quality and affordable legal services on a sliding scale to low-to-moderate income individuals.
