AUSTIN, TX – Austin Community Foundation and United Way for Greater Austin announced today the final round of grant funding from All Together ATX in the amount of $3.5 million to 111 local nonprofits. This community-led philanthropic fund provides flexible resources to nonprofit organizations working with communities that are disproportionately impacted by COVID-19 and the economic consequences of the outbreak. The third and final round of grants provide funding for basic needs and support for nonprofits that are meeting other critical needs and/or facing operational impacts due to the pandemic.

The $3.5 million to be distributed includes a generous matching gift from the Sheth Sangreal Foundation. Every donation made between October 1 and November 16 was matched dollar for dollar by the Sheth Sangreal Foundation.

“With so many generous donors like the Sheth Sangreal Foundation and hundreds of other corporate, foundation, and individual gifts, Austin showed that we take care of each other. We’re honored to partner with the Austin Community Foundation to provide much-needed relief to our local nonprofits and community. Thank you to every person and company that donated to All Together ATX to support our community through COVID-19”, David C. Smith, CEO of United Way for Greater Austin, said. “The road to recovery is ongoing, and United Way for Greater Austin will continue to be here to build opportunity for all individuals, children, and families.”

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to disproportionately impact communities of color in Central Texas. Black and Latinx families are bearing the brunt of the economic and health consequences of the coronavirus. With this in mind, equity was a guiding principle in the All Together ATX grantmaking process. Out of 111 nonprofits receiving grants, 81 organizations are led by Black, Indigenous, or people of color (BIPOC) and more than 50 percent of staff at these organizations are BIPOC.

Austin Community Foundation and United Way raised $7.7 million for All Together ATX from corporate and individual donors since March 27, 2020. The remaining funds, totaling $3.5 million, will be distributed electronically by December 24.

“While this relief effort has served its purpose in responding to immediate needs in our region, Austin Community Foundation and United Way for Greater Austin will continue to incorporate COVID-19 relief into our philanthropic work into 2021 and beyond,” Mike Nellis, CEO of Austin Community Foundation, said. “The disruption and economic consequences of the pandemic will be felt for years to come, which is why continued giving and support for local nonprofits will be critical for our community to fully recover.”
