Application tips

  • Use the short answer questions as an opportunity to tell reviewers more about yourself. Share things you would like them to know that can’t be seen through your GPA or transcripts. There will be real people reading your application, so make sure you are being authentic. They will want to get to know you!
  • Have your recent transcripts available, official transcripts are preferred.
  • A few opportunities require you to submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, coach or mentor. Our letter of recommendation is a form that the recommender will be guided to complete, rather than a document upload. We recommend sending this email request to your recommender as soon as possible to allow them plenty of time to complete the request.
  • Start early! You may have supplemental questions once you hit submit.

Frequently asked questions

Ask something else
  • The scholarship disbursement covers tuition and fees, books, supplies, and educational expenses based on the recipient’s needs. The scholarship should be applied to reduce the family financial contribution and not the financial aid package. The student can be full- or part-time status but must be in good academic standing with the educational institution. The scholarship can be divided among past or future semesters.

  • We only process payment directly to your accredited school. The school cannot refund any amount to you unless it is for reimbursement of approved expenses.

  • You can update your school information by emailing us at scholarships@austincf.org and including your school’s website link and your student ID number. Please allow 48 hours to process the update.

  • Please contact your school as soon as possible to help prevent the accumulation of fees and request the school to process a refund. Also, contact Austin Community Foundation at scholarships@austincf.org with your student ID number and school so we can follow up.

This scholarship has not only lightened the financial burden but also rekindled my hopes and aspirations for my education. I am eternally grateful for this opportunity.
